The 2017 Rugby League World Cup has time to start, and thus the France team has decided to play some warm up match. As a part of this French Rugby League Federation (FRLF) France has made the announcement of holding a historic test match with Jamaica.
According to the announcement made, the match will be played on 13 October at Stade Gilbert Brutus, Perpignan. This will be a warm-up match for the team. In the Rugby League World Cup (RLWC) 2017 the team of France is going to get face to face with team Australia, Lebanon and England in the group stages.
The match between Jamaica and France will be interesting for both the spectators as well as the players, this is because, and both the two nations are coming face to face for the first time.
In the official statement made by the authorities of federation, it is said that “Our elected officials has the desire of developing international meetings of France with many international partners. And this match will support the desire of the officials”.
Jamaica is a great team and it played an autumn international against Wales last year, pulling off 16-all draw.
The Jamaican Rugby League Association (JRLA) director of rugby Romeo Monteith said about the match that “JRLA is in the process of building up its team to qualify for 2021 World Cup; this match will give lots of experience to our players. We welcome this match. By playing against France, we will get exposure at wider global audience”.
He further added that “This match will help us in building our reputation on the international platform and will also demonstrate the globalization of rugby league”.
On the other hand, FFRXIII has also expressed its interest in playing against Ireland and Italy in men’s and women’s competition both.
